Summer?
Almost 3 months ago I told you that Spring was in the air. Well, the weather has been so lovely lately that we've been spending all our free time (mainly weekends, since I work practically every night until 9 pm) at our datcha. We haven't spent the night there yet, because the house is still quite cold and we haven't had a chance to clean it up yet.
So, what have we been doing, you may ask. Here's the lowdown: we've removed all the greenhouses, burnt a lot of vegetable waste, levelled the land, made flowerbeds and vegetable beds, sowed loads of different flowers and vegetables...
We've already got a tan, I am riddled with mosquito bites and every muscle in my body still aches from all the digging, raking and what have you.
However, the result looks quite good and it's a great feeling to see all your labour turn into something tangible.
It's not that we do nothing but work there. No, we enjoy the peace and quiet of the place, the birds singing (cuckoo,finches,...), the smell of the flowers (forget-me-nots, narcissi, tulips....), eating our sandwiches on a bench...
Anyway, soon we'll be spending our weekends there and taking Max (our cat) with us. He's been there already and liked it very much.
If you're interested, look at some pictures on my picture site.
On another note, I've been granted my residence permit. I don't have it yet, but they're putting some stamp or other in my passport as we speak and I should be able to go and pick it up any day now. I'll tell you more about future steps once I have it.
