Documents

I've been promising to give you a list of the documents needed to
a) get married and
b) receive a residence permit.

Getting married is the easy part (document wise)
In order to get married in Russia (as a foreigner), you need two things:
- a document that states you are not married.
You can get this from the Belgian embassy in Moscow for €10. It takes about 15 minutes for them to deliver it. This document has to be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow (130 RUB = €4), which means someone puts an extra stamp and signature on it. This takes minimum 5 days.
- a translation of your Belgian passport, which has been attested by a Russian notary.
In principle, the notary only attests the translation in the presence of the translator. Since a Belgian passport contains 3 or 4 languages, you can use any translator you want (in our case Olga), and consequently you can have it attested by the notary of your choice. Prices range from 15 RUB to 450 (more about that later).

We're hoping to finally go and deliver all the documents required for a residence permit on Friday.
I'll give you a complete list afterwards (I've already told you about the medical certificates).
