Krasnoe ozero
Since the weather was spectacular, we spent the weekend at 'Krasnoe ozero' (red lake). That is to say, we went there by bus on Saturday and Sunday. Red lake is a lake on the edge of town and it is a very popular place in summer. It's an artificial lake, like there are many in Belgium, and we think it's called 'Krasnoe ozero' because it's located near the village 'Krasnaya'. It has a small beach on one side (which is always crowded), the other banks are covered with grass and trees.
People go there not only to sunbathe, some ride on jetskis, speedboats and some waterski. Of course, many people start fires and leave all their trash behind: a quite common Russian trait, unfortunately.
The lake is also popular for its crayfish (rak/rivierkreeft). People (esp. youngsters) catch a load of them and then cook them over a fire. Olga even caught one! I didn't even try to, because I was too chicken.
If you want, you can have a look at some pictures here.
