What a birthday!

Yesterday was my birthday.

The day before I'd found out (well, actually my mom had) that I had to have my documents, which, by the way, had already been translated by a sworn translator and verified at the first instance court in Mechelen, legalised in Brussels.
Since my birthday was my only day off this week and I had to have it done by the end of this week, because Olga, who's taking my documents with her, is leaving on Sunday, I decided to give them a call and verify the information I found on this site.
And what do you know? It's true. I had to tear myself away from my loved one(s) and my warm comfortable bed (far worse, if you ask me) on my birthday of all days and take the train to Brussels.

Thank God there was a man on the train who was headed in the same direction, otherwise I might never have found the damn place. It's pretty easy once you know how to get there, but if you don't have a decent map of Brussels that includes the subways, you're a goner.
Upon arrival at the subway station, the damn ticket machine wouldn't accept my 20€ note (neither of the two). The fare was 1,40 for one trip and all the change I had was 1,10. Of course, nobody wanted to break my 20€ note.
Funny enough, I had the sense to by a 75 cent doughnut, which left me with enough change to buy the stupid ticket (I was pretty nervous by now).

Anyways, I got to my first point of destination with about half an hour to spare, had them do their thing, took the subway to the second place, waited a while, paid 40€ (10€ per document) and that was that.

Before heading home, I had a nice cup of coffee and a cigarette to calm my nerves. Without any further impediments - apart from the train to Antwerp driving at about 20 km per hour and stopping at every single godforsaken train station - I made it home just in time to celebrate my birthday with my loved ones.

How's that for a 26th birthday?!!
